To celebrate the zodiac year of the rabbit, Singapore Philatelic Museum organised a fun and interactive exhibition for young visitors to discover the wonderful world of bunnies using stamps and interactive displays. Visitors could learn how to tell apart the different bunny breeds and meet famous bunnies whose popularity has transcended time and cultures.

The year 2011 marks the centenary of the first flight in Singapore. Joseph Christiaens piloted a Bristol BoxKite biplane in Singapore in 1911. This exhibition celebrated the milestone event with a display of picture postcards, postage stamps, and first day covers, which traced the aviation history of Singapore. A private collection of model aircrafts on loan from Mr Ralph Aeria was also on display.

Dr. Sun Yat Sen was a great traveller who had supporters from all around the world. He visited Singapore eight times. Visitors could unravel the life and times of the great revolutionary leader of China in the interactive exhibition.

“Message Me” explored the importance of communication and its development from the Stone Age to modern day through the museum’s permanent collection of over 200 postage stamps and communication equipment. The exhibition was designed as a fun and engaging experience with interactive exhibits for school children and families to find out about the many types of communication. The alphabet, semaphore signalling, Morse code, the World Wide Web which was made public some 20 years ago, depict different forms of communication and highlights of inventions which bridge distance and time.

The year 2011 marked the 100th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution of China. This exhibition invited visitors to discover the origins of Dr. Sun, his political ideologies and actions, and the role Singapore played in his revolutionary efforts. On display were artefacts on loan from the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, such as a calligraphy scroll handwritten by Dr. Sun, and the Sun Yat Sen philatelic collection of Mr. Meng Zhao Long, a Beijing philatelist. The exhibition was developed by Singapore Philatelic Museum, in collaboration with Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall.
